It was discovered by Near Earth Asteroid Tracking (NEAT) on 7 December 2002. The comet came opposition on 22 November 2025, and will come to perihelion on 19 December 2025 when it should be around magnitude 12-13. On 3 October 2025 fragment 240P-B was imaged by Kitt Peak and reported by V.
